Bolzano, Italy, 25 - 31 May 2014: After more than a decade has been the largest World Congress of mountain medicine again in Europe. It attracted 600 participants from 43 countries - from basic research dealing with molecular and genetic mechanisms associated with the amount of (patho) physiology and clinical researchers on the one hand doctors mountain avida rescuers, doctors and various other services odpravarskih doctors on the other side. The Congress is organized by the European Academy (EURAC) in Bolzano, in collaboration with the International Association of Mountain Medicine (ISMM) and the International Federation of mountain rescue organizations (IKAR). Within the Congress was held 140 lectures and some ten workshops were also presented about 150 posters. Lectures and workshops are conducted in parallel avida in two, sometimes even several halls at the same time, so it was sometimes impossible to attend all interesting topics.
We actively participated two participants from Slovenia - George Gorjanc introduced the subject of his research frostbite, and I am the organizers vpregli in many activities. Together with assistant professor Peter Paalom from the University Clinic in Innsbruck I was somoderator program on supplying the airways, together with Professor Budo Basnyatom from Kathmandu but somoderator program on projects of emergency medicine and rescue in the Himalayas and Nepal. The Head of anesthesiology at the hospital avida Bruneck in South Tyrol Dr. Elisabeth Gruber I was a co-leader of the workshop "Trauma Management), in addition, avida I was a member of the discussion group on doping in mountaineering. I had invited lecture "Advanced airway management and remote areas", together with nevrologinjo from the University Clinic in Innsbruck avida Dr. Katharina Hüfner and Head of the Institute of Mountain Emergency Medicine EURAC prof. Bruggerjem, who was also head of the organizers of the Congress, I presented the poster "High alitude psyhotic events." It was tiring, very interesting and useful both for professional as the other facets - from meeting new people to new ideas about joint projects. 6 days of all-day program is of course too brief to report, so below represent only some of the most important and / or most interesting information.
Altitude problems Himalayan pilgrims Young Nepalese avida doctors, our (IKAR MEDCOM) pupils from recent courses and mountain emergency medicine, presented its rapidly growing experience from work in base camp below the eight-thousander, especially under the Mount Everest, where every year a lot of mountaineers and of course, correspondingly great need for medical care. Also nice is to monitor how quickly and successfully gain knowledge and experience. More experience with altitude medicine are getting the medical care of pilgrims in some highland holy places such as Gosainkund. Especially highlighted so far rather neglected (practical and research) problem of a huge number of "elevation of pilgrims." Many sacred places especially for Buddhists and Hindus are at high altitudes (Kailas, Manasarovar, Gosainkund ...). Every year there frequented by thousands of pilgrims without acclimatization, with inadequate equipment, nutrition and hydration on the one hand and extremely motivating to the other side. Height pathology including fatalities is in them very much. On Gosainkundu the last five busiest days had 780 patients, of whom many severe altitude illness and its complications. In the Indian part of the scope of the problem even bigger, but less data. In general, the pilgrims are more at risk of trekerjev due sllabše mode, ill-health avida and equipment. Same as mountaineers will also require the pilgrims things to do in the field of prevention and care - this is currently one of the most important areas of practical altitude medicine.
The tragedy in an ice waterfall below Mt. Everest firsthand, we heard shocking report of a recent tragedy tallest ever in the Himalayas, when the podoru avida seracs in an ice waterfall on the south side of Everest killed 16 Sherpas, avida many of them suffered serious avida injuries. In the base camp on Mt Everest are to this disaster faced local doctors, young Nepalec, our pupil with IKAR MEDCOM courses and an English specialist in emergency medicine. With a lot of improvisation, the lack of resources, but with the participation of eight randomly genuine doctors (clients or doctors avida expeditions) and of course the Sherpas, in the circumstances, we carried out with great care the massive disaster. Very quickly they were also included helicopters, civil and military. The base camp was at that time about 1000 people, of which 600 mountaineers and clients, many have joined to help, especially in prenapanju victims of an ice waterfall to the base camp. The tragedy, of course, raised a number of questions of law (family of the deceased avida ...) to professional avida and organizational. This has been and will continue to widely publicized.
Odpravarska medicine rather we talked about experiences and dilemmas avida odpravarskih doctors should be well versed and experienced avida in all the
