Guernsey won their third successive Muratti Vase as they defeated Jersey 4-1 at Springfield. Ross Allen scored with a penalty kick in the first 6 minutes and Jacques Isabelle scored just 10 minutes later. Just three minutes into the second half, Allen took the Greens 3 up with a powerful free kick from 20 yards out. Cav Miley pulled one back for Jersey before Matt Loaring scored Guernsey’s fourth goal.
Jersey clawed one back after 55 minutes when Cav Miley’s shot was fumbled over the line by keeper Chris Tardif. But Jersey hopes were dashed when Allen turned pushed the ball to Matt Loaring who steered it round Styles to secure the win. This was the first Muratti Vase win for Guernsey Manager Steve Sharman Jersey boss Craig Culkin said ” I’m really proud of the players, Guernsey were a cut above and a class above. It was my last game today and I thank the Jersey team for the last four or five years. Today was about Guernsey, let’s give them some credit because they were class.” Previous Muratti winners
