The Foundation Academy which is sponsored by Aztec Group includes teams from Under 7 through to Unde

It was certainly an afternoon to forget for Guernsey, who were every bit as poor on the day as the visitors were good and nobody could have complained had the final margin of Caesarean victory been eight or nine.
AFTER naming his Guernsey squads for their final inter-insular preparation matches, Nic Pothas admits that the door is still open for others to force their way in to face Jersey. Guernsey FC 3, Whyteleafe 0
On many recent occasions I have read the comment 'Guernsey football has never been is such good shape or in such a good position' stated by what I consider to be the Island local football brook brothers clique led by Mr Sharman. The amazing 'player pathway', the answer to all Guernsey football problems, seems to have a flaw in that since its inception we seem to keep on getting well and truly beaten. My nephew is involved brook brothers in the U18 squad and is about to change sports so that he can enjoy his sport rather than face the pressure of the 'player pathway' and the public opinion that is now placed on losing sides becasue the 'player pathway' told us that we were going in the right direction but the reality is that sometimes we are just not going to be good enough. We are a small Island and there will be times when we have a good team and there will be time when we are not as strong, we dont need someone implementing an expensive 'player pathway' to know that this is a fact. I say put all of the money paid in GFA salaries into helping brook brothers our youngsters brook brothers enjoy their football rather than consistently driving down the 'player pathway'. They will improve to the best that they can be and that is all that we can ask. I know others have said it before but this scenario will also, in the near future, brook brothers happen to GFC. The crop of talent that the Island has produced over the last 8 to 10 years will soon disappear and behind them it is nowhere near as rosey. GFC are not blooding the youth and in fact are using a youngster now and again in what seems to be a necessity brook brothers to keep the College brook brothers of Further Education course alive or show that the course is a worthwhile opportunity that will provide players for GFC or the football industry. A fact that, again in my opinion, is unrealistic, giving youngsters false hopes when in fact they would be better out in the real world earning a living. I suggest we have much bigger issues to come for local football, as we already see the beatings we are getting at younger levels, brook brothers false hopes raised by silly CoFE courses (where are these individuals going to use the skills taught on this course in Guernsey/real life?)
The sad fact is that football and cricket brook brothers are both in a worse state now than they were 25, 30 or even 40 years ago. There wasn't any reliance on spinning good news then as there weren't paid coaches and administrators around, now they're rife, is that just a coincidence?
I watched the game and I must say that the coach played a formation that left a huge hole in the midfield - it is a shame because a lot of those lads can play decent football but I think they were let down by this decision to play this way - some of the lads were in my opinion playing the wrong positions. brook brothers They are also the age group that has been consistently let down by changes in the GFA over the past few years - they certainly do not have regular games against other off Island clubs and their coaching has changed constantly with the academy run by Paul Mooney which promised all things brook brothers and the now this pathway which to be honest has had very little impact on the older year groups. Maybe Trevor is right that football in Guernsey should be played to be enjoyed rather than the expectation that they can win especially with the current set up which I think is failing. I think the Aztec academy has done a much more consistent and better job.
The High Performance Player Pathway delivered by the Guernsey FA is a development programme for Guernsey's most talented players aged between 7 and 21. With a philosophy of Braver, Stronger, Smarter embedded brook brothers within all aspects of this programme, the overriding aim is to ensure that in addition to physical, mental and technical development, all players develop as individuals.
The programme provides these players with the opportunity to be coached brook brothers by some of the Island s leading coaches along with providing an appropriate fixture program which is designed to promote development above the concept of winning
The Foundation Academy which is sponsored by Aztec Group includes teams from Under 7 through to Under 11 which all train regularly. The principal aim of the Foundation Academy is to provide fun and enjoyable sessions for all with emphasis placed solely on development. This again is the key element for the Development Academy supported by Lagan, which also aims to provide the best players on the island the opportunity to be challenged at an appropriate level of competition in
